We stayed 3 nights in this B&B (room N3) and are very happy that we did. B&B is very conveniently located just outside Seward on a very quiet lot surrounded by forest. It is also very convenient for visiting Exit Glacier, but of course, you need to have a car if you decide to stay there. Our room was quite large with 2 beds. There are only 3 guest rooms in the house, which is next to the house where the owners, Richard and Sue, live. They are a very nice and friendly couple. It was a pleasure talking to them and other guests during the breakfast. In the common area of the house, which is available to all guests, there is a refrigerator, microwave and all the necessary utensils, so it is possible to prepare a simple dinner, rather than going every days to restaurants. The house is build by Richard himself, who is a real craftsman.
The hosts at this bed and breakfast were one of the highlights of our trip! I stayed here with a friend for one night. We arrived to a welcoming note and comfortable beds. The hosts sleep in a separate house nearby, so it really felt like we had our own little log cabin in the woods. We awoke to the smell of bacon and sourdough pancakes! It’s amazing that the sourdough starter has been passed down for several generations. The hosts were happy to tell us about Alaskan history, laugh with us about Alaskan politics, and give us important advice about encountering moose. To me, traveling is as much about the people you meet as it is about sight seeing. If you really want to get a sense of Alaskan life, I’d highly recommend this room!
To experience Sue And Richard’s excellent hospitality, to have those wonderful sourdough pancakes, and to see Richard’s craftsmanship at woodworking. Even though I have gluten sensitivities, the sourdough pancakes didn’t bother me. There is a mini refrigerator and tea bar near the guest rooms. Big porch to sit on and enjoy the peace and quiet of the area. The bed was comfortable, the Charisma towels were soft and absorbent, and the bath was clean. We are looking forward to returning.
